Abstract

A series of structurally diverse compounds 5a–h) (Fig:1, Table:1,2) 3-Hydroxy-Series of -4-(4-((6-
methylpyridin-2-yl) oxy) phenethyl) pyridin-2(1H)-one derivatives were evaluated for in vitro
antibacterial and antifungal activities using the agar well diffusion method. Compounds 5e and 5g
exhibited excellent antibacterial activity, while 5d, 5f, 5g, and 5h showed moderate to good antifungal
activity. Compound 5g emerged as the most promising broad-spectrum antimicrobial candidate.
