The teaching of English as a foreign language has become one of the most significant areas of modern
educational research due to the growing role of English as a global language of communication. In the
context of globalization, English is widely used in science, technology, education, business, diplomacy,
and international cooperation. As a result, educational institutions around the world are paying increasing
attention to the improvement of English language teaching methodologies. Effective language teaching
requires the application of innovative pedagogical approaches that support the development of
communicative competence, critical thinking, and intercultural awareness among learners. This study
explores the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of modern English language teaching
methodology. The research focuses on the analysis of innovative teaching approaches that contribute to
the improvement of language learning outcomes. Particular attention is given to communicative
language teaching, learner-centered instruction, task-based learning, and the integration of technology
in language education. These methodological approaches encourage active student participation and
create opportunities for meaningful communication in the classroom. The article also examines the
importance of developing the four fundamental language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and
writing—in an integrated manner. Modern language teaching methodology emphasizes that these skills
should not be taught separately but rather through interconnected activities that simulate real-life
communication. Integrated skill development helps learners achieve a higher level of language
proficiency and supports the practical use of English in academic and professional contexts.
In addition, the research highlights the significance of vocabulary acquisition, grammar
instruction, and pronunciation training as essential components of language learning. Modern teaching
strategies emphasize contextualized grammar instruction and communicative vocabulary learning that
enable students to apply linguistic knowledge in authentic situations. The use of phonetic exercises and
listening activities contributes to the improvement of learners’ pronunciation and listening
comprehension.
